As a multi-instumentalist (bass, guitar, vocals, piano) I honed my skills studying music theory and ethnomusicology at York University and later jazz performance at Humber College. As a performer, I have been an active member in the Toronto live music scene for well over two-decades.
Most recently I was a core member of the electronic alternative-rock trio
OxfordTown
who released their
debut CD in 2016
. I have also performed with a variety of artists across multiple genres including instrumental guitar-rock band
Pyramids on Mars
, electronic artist
Bucky James
, reggae band
RudeBoy RudeGirl
, progressive metal band
Shatter Instinct
, and the funk-pop band
Joyslam
. Additionally, I have performed as a pit orchestra bassist for theatrical productions such as Grease and most recently Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
In my teens, I fell in love with film scoring and passionately devoured the works of Jerry Goldsmith, Ennio Morricone, John Williams, and Bernard Herrmann. In recent years, I embraced the styles of the new wave of film composers such as Hans Zimmer, Trent Reznor, Client Mansell, John Murphy, and Daft Punk, and began melding orchestral arrangements with electronic sounds. As a composer, I have provided music for a number of film projects including scoring the upcoming feature-length mockumentary Start/Stop and with OxfordTown contributed a song to the soundtrack of the award-winning dramedy
Mourning Has Broken
.
After managing the audio post-production team on the pilot for Purple Squirrels, I gained tremendous respect for the art of film audio. This led to my providing the sound design and audio mixing for both Start/Stop and the indie comedy
Did You Hear Jake and Courtney Broke Up
.
